The trending issue among the film industry currently is the issue of awarding the academy, some celebrities are not happy with the results and questioned the credibility and professionalism when making decision who gets the award.

The current issue is related to the award winner actor U Bay Lu Wa and actor U Khin Hlaing. This issue occurred since the first night of the Myanmar academy award 2016 when U Khin Hlaing missed the award and were not happy with the result.

Many related celebrities have been interviewed for their opinions including the chairman of the Myanmar Film Association U Lu Min. He said, "The awards decision was made not by him alone, it has been thoroughly discussed among the board committee members before giving it out."

Another interview is done by the Myanmar Celebrity asking a senior and respectable actor U Kyaw Thu how he sees the situation. 

U Kyaw Thu said, "This kind of issues will always occur as long as we do not change the procedure of choosing the candidate. In my opinion, we just filter out the best film of the year and hire the international professional to screen out the best celebrities. Doing that way could make this issue disappear."
