Water festival is called Songkran in Thailand and it is one of the biggest national festival, one reason is that it is the new year of the Buddhist calendar. The water festival is celebrated with many national holidays are in Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos. Myanmar has ten national holidays for water festival and Thailand has five days including weekend this year.
This is the nature and environment of water festival in Thailand though this is quite different from the traditional style. Times changes the lifestyle of the people and how they behave in the Songkran are different from the past. However, people still keep the real core value of Songkran in which the younger ones will request of forgiveness from the elders by washing their hands. This core value is still practicing no matter lifestyle has changed.
