
Mr. U Thet Wai was released today, April 8, 2016. His first words after out of prisons are trembling and he is shaking while talking to the media interviewed him.
In his statement, he is explaining how he and others political prisoners were treated in prison and requesting his colleague Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Mr. President U Htin Kyaw to release all the political prisoners.
Mr. U Thet Wai, said, "I have been starving for three four days. The food in prisons are not edible, they are terrible. I decided not to eat even if I will die. I request my sister Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and my brother, the new president U Htin Kyaw to released all the political prisoners." He also added, "I was a soldier too, but I was arrested for protesting."
Mr. U Thet Wai is trembling and shaking talking to the media. He is seen too happy that he almost burst out of tears.
Mr. U Thet Wai was arrested in 2008 when he was attending his colleague, Mr. U Ohn Than's trial. He was searched and found a memory stick that includes information relating to child labors which he sent to ILO.
Mr. U Thet Wai was actively involved in investigating and reporting about child labor and child soldiers back in 2008. He sent information to ILO.
